Longford library is to host a film screening this evening to commemorate the RIC surrender to the IRA.
The film titles, "The Assault on and Capture of Ballymahon RIC Barracks" and is the creation of filmmaker Michael Conlan and Rónán Ó Ceallaigh, a local man who organised the erection of a plaque to commemorate the event last year.
The film reveals a piece of local history through a series of interviews with local and academic historians as well as dramatisations.
The project is funded by Longford County Council through the Decade of Centenaries Programme.
The Glenside Céilí Band will provide entertainment at the premiere in Ballymahon Community Library at 7.30 pm tonight.
