The Longford man crowned Ireland's Smartest says a genuine enthusiasm for learning was one of the keys to his success.
Legan man Patrick Carthy was crowned over the weekend following his victory over some of the most intelligent quizzers in the country.
The 31 year old Electrical Engineer defeated a civil servant from Belfast and a teacher from Galway to take the crown.
Speaking to Let's Talk today, Patrick says he has a love for learning different things while indulging in his competitive side:
''An enthusiasm for learning different things and curiosity in general, I would have read a lot when I was younger, it gives you an opportunity to look at different areas and try to learn about different things. The competition is another side of it, another opportunity to compete in a different field, I would have played a lot of sport and still do, a lot of it is trying to cover a broad a range of things as possible.''
