A Longford woman has told a judge that she and her daughter face homelessness as a court deliberates on her bail conditions.
Caroline O'Donoghue of Cluain Na Sibhe, Killashee pleaded guilty to possession of a sawn-off shotgun and shells outside of Longford Town in 2019.
The mother of one appeared before Longford Circuit Criminal Court today with a motion to alter bail conditions on her address.
Ms O'Donoghue informed the court that her rented accommodation in Killashee has been sold and she must vacate the premises immediately.
Correspondence presented to the court showed the accused had been given notice of intent to sell in July 2021.
According to the Longford woman, she has spent the intervening time unsuccessfully searching surrounding areas for accommodation.
She has applied to Court to have her bail address changed to a residence she recently secured at Cuirt on Oirr on the Athlone Road in Longford Town.
However, this move was challenged by Gardaí, who raised concerns over the new location.
Ms O'Donoghue, who has no previous convictions, informed the court that if she can't move into the new residence in the next few days, she and her eleven-year-old daughter face homelessness.
Legal counsel for the state argued that as the application had only been made in the last few days, Gardaí have not had enough time to satisfy themselves on the suitability of the accommodation.
Judge Keenan Johnson adjourned the case until next Tuesday's sitting of the court in Tullamore, to allow local Gardaí to investigate, stating to Ms O'Donoghue, that her landlord cannot remove her from the property in that short of a time.
