Longford is emerging as a major player in the healthcare and pharma sector, according to a local TD.
Fianna Fail's Joe Flaherty made the claim following the award of planning permission for a major expansion of Technimark on the Ballinalee Road in Longford.
Technimark produces high-value injection-molded packaging and components and added 80 new jobs at the Longford site two years ago.
The company are seeking planning for an additional 20,000 sq ft manufacturing space and additional warehouse space.
The proposal would also see the development of a new two-storey quality lab, exit ramp for trucks leaving the site onto a local road connecting to the N63 and the demolition of an existing storage shed.
The expansion will support an additional 150 jobs on site following a further 80 jobs added in 2022.
Deputy Flaherty believes Longford is growing a strong reputation as a base for industry.
The Fianna Fail TD says the upgrade of transport and industrial infrastructure is vital for further growth.
