Longford planners have granted permission for the demolition of Bohan's Bar in Newtownforbes and the construction of 14 new houses.
Plans submitted by J. & R. Maynooth Ltd call for 6 two bedroom bungalows and 8 three bedroom, two storey semi-detached type dwellings in the centre of the village.
The project includes an entrance/exit to the development onto the main N4 route.
The permission was subject to 16 conditions.
One states that the junction accessing the development most be completed before any other work on site is begun.
While another calls for 120 thousand euro of an insurance bond to be lodged and a payment of over €26,000 to the planning authority.
The development has been subject to multiple submissions objecting to the plans.
These include several on the grounds of traffic issues and the possible danger of the junction
While others referenced concerns over the demolition process.
