Longford currently has the third highest level of Covid-19 transmission in the country.
That's according to the latest weekly Covid incidence report from the Health Protection and Surveillance Centre.
The average age of new Covid cases across the region over the last 7 days is 31.
1,232 new cases in Longford over the last week has pushed Longford near the top of the list when it comes to virus transmission nationwide, with an incidence rate of 3,014.
That's followed locally by Leitrim at 6th highest nationwide, where 764 cases have resulted in a transmission rate of 2,384 per 100,000 people.
Remaining in the Shannonside region, Roscommon currently has an incidence rate of 1,897, just above the national average, with 1, 125 new cases recorded over the last week.
However it is predicted that this weekend's reopening will see levels rise over the coming weeks.
