Further regeneration works in Longford town will commence in mid July.
It's part of the Longford Connected Project and will focus on creating a better connection between Grafton Court and the Market Square.
It involves the installation of new footpaths, lighting and signage, as well as street furniture and landscaping.
Councillors had been frustrated over the slow place of the works since contracts were signed last November.
However, Councillor Gerry Warnock is now confident shovels will be in the ground on July 11th.
''The contracts were signed in November last, and we've had a lot of false starts as such between then and now in terms of the start date. And I know I've been at this a long, long time now to try and get something definitive here because it's so important to get these flagship projects kicked off in our county town. So I'd be very, very optimistic now after the meeting last week that you know the 11th of July will be D-Day.''
