Longford resident Maragaret Norton says the time is long past for apologies, and people who were illegally adopted in this country are still being insulted by the state.
Margaret was one of a number of people who spoke on last night's RTE Investigates programme on illegal adoptions in Ireland over several decades.
She began her search for her biological family over 12 years ago after discovering that she had been illegally adopted from a GP in Carrickmacross in Co Monaghan in the 1970's.
Margaret was successfully reunited with her biological family after she took it on herself to try and find them but she says people are still suffering on a daily basis through not being allowed access to their own records.
