A Longford resident who was conferred with Irish citizenship this week says it’s a great feeling of acceptance.
Kehinde Adejinmi was one of 950 people who were conferred with citizenship at two separate ceremonies in Killarney yesterday.
Mr Adejinmi says he had first applied for citizenship just before Covid and the process took a bit longer than usual as a result.
He says though he was very happy with the ceremony yesterday, and to be formally integrated into a country he’s chosen as his home.
Having lived in a place for so long, and interacted with people, becoming an Irish citizen just makes me feel that finally I have this total acceptance, and total integration into a society, a community, that I have chosen as my home.
It gives me a sense of feeling, of belonging, to Ireland.
