Longford residents are being encouraged to participate in a variety of meetings about business and community development.
These public consultations, organised by Longford Community Resources, give locals a chance to discuss challenges in rural areas.
Over 5.8 million euro has been allocated to support the development of the county under the Rural Development Programme.
All of these meetings are set to take place in various locations across Longford with the first meeting taking place tonight in Granard Library at 7pm this evening
CEO Adrian Green says the public's feedback is vital in developing a strategy for the next LEADER programme:
"From our perspective we're developing a strategy for the delivery and implementation of the next LEADER programme which will last from 2023-27 and what we want to do is hear from groups and individuals about their feedback on the challenges or issues and opportunities they're facing, rural communities and businesses and how the LEADER community can support them. That feedback will then form part of our consultation process and the development of the strategy for the programme".
While Longford Rugby Club will host a consultation next Tuesday.
Next Wednesday, Dromod GAA Clubhouse will have a meeting at 7pm.
Meanwhile, Ballymahon Library will host a meeting on Monday the 24th of April
