Irish Water customers in the Longford area are being urged to conserve water.
Longford County Council and Irish Water are experiencing high rates of water usage across the region due to the current cold weather.
The utility is requesting that consumers refrain from running taps overnight during the frost and that all consumers check water supplies for bursts or leaks.
Farmers are also being asked to check on drinkers in farmyards or on their lands, to ensure they have not been affected by a burst or leak from frost damage.
Irish Water has apologised for the inconvenience and is asking the public to help ensure the continuous supply to the region.
