It's now hoped that road works on the N63 in Longford town will be complete in three months' time.
Anger was expressed last month after it was revealed that the Major's Well Road in the town would have construction work taking place until the end of the year due to unforeseen complications.
The installation of new cycle lanes on either side of the road, as well as the improvements of junctions along the main route were due to be finished by April of this year.
However, members of Longford's Municipal District were told that the works would not be finished until the end of the year.
An update from the Council issued via its map alerter system in the last 24 hours now suggests the works will be complete by the end July.
The Council has also confirmed the N63 will remain open at all times but traffic management will be in place to manage the works.
