A Longford academic is among the inaugural membership of the Young Academy of Ireland.
The newly formed organisation will bring researchers and innovators together to work collaboratively to benefit society.
Dr Deirdre Flynn, who is from Killashee, is a lecturer in 21st-century literature at Mary Immaculate College in Limerick.

The local woman will serve a four year term on the forum.
Dr Flynn says she looks forward to addressing key issues in higher education and society including academic uncertainty.
