A Longford candidate for Seanad Éireann believes it's important to get a local representative elected to the chamber.
Former Longford-Westmeath TD Joe Flaherty officially received a nomination from Fianna Fáil to stand in this month's election. He is set to stand for the Cultural and Educational Panel. Speaking to Shannonside News, the former TD believes he brings a wealth of experience to the table.
He also says it won't be an easy election.
