Longford Senator Micheal Carrigy is paying tribute to the community work in Edgeworthstown and says he hopes a recent incident in a park there won't overshadow the real progress made.
The Fine Gael politician says different community groups have come together in the area to work to provide top class facilities in the past few years and this work needs to be appreciated.
A man has been charged in connection with a 'serious public order' incident and a number of other youths were also arrested following the incident last weekend.
Senator Carrigy says the new enterprise hub and library are hugely positive developments in the town and he hopes people can focus on the good news there is for the area.
