The Longford Summer Festival is beginning again tonight after an absence of four years.
The outdoor music event is taking place on Ballymahon Street and on Main Street for the next four nights, and is expected to draw large crowds, with an estimated 30,000 people having attended the last festival in 2019.
Deputy Joe Flaherty who's one of the organisers of the event says they're delighted to have been able to bring the festival back this year.
He says it's something that everyone comes out to support and enjoy, and they're hoping that will be the case again this year.
'Longford people are very proud of their town , they're very proud of their festival ,we would have ran for 9 nights in 2019 , we're back with four nights this year, we're working on the basis that we will have nine nights again in 2024.
Since it's reintroduction this has run over four years without a single incident on the streets of Longford.
The festival and the towns , and the county's association with live music is very important , and that's why it's important that we have our festival back and we allow people to come and support the festival and everything that's good , positive and vibrant about Longford.'
