Saint Vincent De Paul's Dermot Murphy says the decision on an eviction ban extension must come soon since Longford services are full.
He says the decision must come before the March 31st deadline as services are struggling with demand.
It is not yet decided whether the ban will be extended, but Taoiseach Leo Varadkar pledged to discuss it before the St. Patrick's Day recess.
With only just over five weeks left until the ban ends, Services Manager Dermot Murphy is calling for an increase in social housing in the measure:
'Last year we had 7 moves from that unit in Longford itself so there is an absolute need for the service.
I think in De Paul we very much support the eviction ban that was brought in before Christmas .
I think there needs to be obviously an increase in social housing because when we look at Longford, rents are nearly doubled and they are not suitable.
We would like to see an increase in social housing.'
