A Longford TD is urging the government to ensure that the appropriate number of staff are made available for a special needs primary school this autumn.
Work is almost complete at the St Christopher's in Longford and is it due to open in September.
However, concern has been expressed that the school may be left with only six of the required positions filled due to the way the classes will be classified by the Department of Education.
The new school will include two new classes and will take the total pupil population to 36 and will include a new autism class and also a class for young children with severe to profound needs.
Longford-Westmeath TD Joe Flaherty is hoping to get the issue resolved
