One of Longford's biggest employers is expected to significantly expand its operations in a new multi-million euro takeover.
Glennon Brothers outside of Longford Town has a signed a deal to takeover a rival sawmill facility in Enniskillen in Northern Ireland.
The Balcas Ltd sawmill produces timber products for the Fencing, Landscaping, Agricultural, Construction, and Pallet sectors and employs 380 people in the region.
While the deal has been signed, it's currently awaiting approval from the Competition and Markets Authority in the UK and Competition and Consumer Protection Commission in Ireland.
The deal will see two of the main names in the national timber industry come together to create a business with an expected revenue of €270 million.
