Parts of the station including toilets and indoor waiting areas were shut at times over last year due to staff shortages.

The prominent facility lies at the top of Longford Town, with the LWETB previously expanding their operations onto the site.

The incident is believed to have occurred at approximately 7:40 am on Sunday.

A man in his early 20s received serious injuries in the incident and was brought to the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar for treatment.

The special needs unit includes a central activity space, multi-sensory room, office, storage, and toilets.

The annual awards are given for dedication to customer service.

Longford was named as part of the Late-Night Events Pilot Programme for 2023.
