The location at which people receive their Covid-19 vaccine will be decided by Eircode rather than county boundaries.
That's according to the chair of Longford County Council, Paul Ross, who says peoples vaccination appointments will be made at the closet centre to them geographically, rather than being automatically made at their county centre.
Speaking on 'Let's Talk', he also says that capacity at Longford's vaccine centre in Newtownforbes will be linked to local demand for the jab, through the new vaccine booking portal. The centre is set to open on the new date of the 3rd of May with three booths capable of inoculating 10 people an hour each opening initially.
When the centre first opens it will deliver 300 jabs a day with full capacity expected to see 10 booths operational should demand warrant it.
Councillor Ross says a higher take up of vaccines in Longford will mean more vaccines available to meet demand.
