A Longford woman who had a heart transplant last year says people need to be more aware of the symptoms of cardiac arrest
Collette Ivory had not been feeling well for around five years but had thought that it was symptoms of anxiety or panic attacks.
However, she suffered a major heart attack in September 2019 and had to be airlifted to the Mater hospital for emergency life-saving treatment.
190 organ transplants took place in Ireland last year- including nine heart transplants, one of which was Colette's which was successful in January of last year.
She is urging everyone to sign up to be an organ donor and is also calling on women to be more aware of the early signs of cardiac issues.
