Local Gardaí stopped the driver of a vehicle over the weekend and conducted a roadside drugs test.

13 businesses have closed due to the blaze in Grafton Court in the early hours of Sunday morning, which caused several million euro worth of damages.

Kevin Hussey runs a dry cleaners in the town and is calling on those with vacant commercial properties to offer them for use.

A total of 13 businesses in Grafton Court were affected by the blaze, with millions of euro worth of damage caused.

The street, which is a major trading route in the town linking the Longford Shopping Centre with Main Street has remained sealed off since early Sunday morning.

They are in Midland Court, which is opposite fire-hit Grafton Court.

The Longford man officially plead guilty to three charges under money laundering legislation at Longford Circuit Court in January.

Gardai have not ruled out suspected foul play in the blaze, which broke out in Grafton Court in the early hours of yesterday morning.
