An Bord Pleanála has confirmed it has approved the application, with conditions.

The long-awaited interim flood relief scheme in south Roscommon has been granted planning permission, with conditions.

The proposed works by Roscommon County Council will see water removed from Lough Funshinagh by a temporary pipeline.

The planned interim flood relief scheme would see water discharged to the Cross River in the townland of Carrick.

An Bord Pleanála has confirmed it has approved the application, with conditions.

Local councillor Laurence Fallon says today's news is very welcome.
