A meeting is taking place this morning between representatives of residents of the flooded Lough Funshinagh area of south Roscommon and the European Commission.
Organised by Roscommon MEP Luke Ming Flanagan, its been arranged to highlight the acute situation facing homes and farmers who are besieged by rising waters from the former turlough.
He's hoping to secure a short term solution for locals while Roscommon County Council works on a permanent pipe to drain water from the lake, which is not expected to be in place for two years.
This morning's meeting will be attended by representatives of the Directorate General for the Environment, which is the European Commission department responsible for EU policy on the environment.
