Close to 100 commencement notices were recorded in the Shannonside Northern Sound Region last month.
Data released by the CSO shows the local notices. which are designed to register that a person intends to carry out building work, for July 2023.
Monaghan recorded the highest numbers in the region at 42 notices submitted to the local council.

That's followed by 35 commencement notices in Cavan over the course of last month.
The figure drops sharply in the Shannonside region, with 7 notices submitted to Roscommon County Council.
9 notices were recorded in Leitrim while just one was registered with Longford County Council.
