Sligo Leitrim TD Marc Mac Sharry is being called on to apologise to public servants after describing some of them as using the pandemic to catch up on box sets.
The Fianna Fail representative made the comments on Tuesday night in the Dail, during a debate on the social welfare Covid-19 bill.
His constituency colleague Deputy Martin Kenny believes the Sligo man's comments are a "sweeping generalisation" which is very unfair and just not true.
The TD praised some public servants for working hard during the pandemic but also complained that he had been dealing with one particular agency “where no one will be back in that office until the end of August”.
