The Cuisle Accessible Holiday and Respite Care Resort in Donamon in County Roscommon has taken in 41 women and children from Ukraine overnight.
A similar number is due to arrive later today to the former Roscommon holiday resort.
The facility can accommodate over 100 people and was previously used by the Irish Wheelchair Association which closed in 2019 and has not been used since.
Co-ordinator Adrian Leddy has said that this was a major effort from the community along with support from Roscommon County Council and the Lions Club has made the centre ready.
He told Shannonside news about some of the work that had to be done to accommodate people coming to the former resort from the war torn country.
