110,000 euro has been announced in funding for walking tracks at a number of local GAA grounds.
The official launch of the Healthy Ireland initiative took place at Oran GAA club yesterday.
Two GAA grounds in County Roscommon are set to benefit from yesterday's funding announcement. Oran GAA will receive 25,000 euro while Western Geals will benefit from 15,000 euro.
The money will enable clubs to expand their impact by improving their walking infrastructure as well as creating safe and inclusive spaces for people of all ages and mobilities.
In Longford Clonguish GAA is to receive 25,000 euro with St Columba's getting 10,000 euro. Leitrim is to benefit from 35,000 euro in funding with Mohill GAA receiving 10,000 euro and St. Patrick's Dromahair getting 25,000.
Minister Hildegarde Naughton and the President of the GAA Larry McCarthy both welcomed the funding announcement while on a visit to County Roscommon yesterday. Minister Naughton says this allocation of money will benefit the whole community.]
