Over 2.4 million euro has been granted to five major regeneration projects for towns across the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
A total of €13 million in funding has bene approved for 24 projects nationwide under the €1 billion Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.
Over three-quarter of a million euro (€787,500) has been granted for the Kingscourt Town Centre Regeneration project, and over €475,000 (€476,033) has been approved for the Carrick on Shannon to Battlebridge Blueway.
Money totaling €468,750.00 has been allocated for the Enhancement of Attractiveness of Lanesborough as a Tourism Destination.
Just under €300,000(295,000) has been granted for the Castleblayney Market Square Regeneration Phase 2 and Ballaghaderreen Public Realm Enhancement has been given a total of €434,010.00.
The funding for the Leitrim project has been welcomed by Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan.
