Several key capital projects for the Shannonside Region are soon to be announced in the National Health Plan 2021, that's according to local TD and Minister of State Frank Feighan.
Minister Stephen Donnelly is to make the announcement in the coming days on all locations that will be benefited by the major funding under the national plan.
In leitrim, Carrick-on Shannon will provide a Community Nursing Unit of 90 beds on the existing HSE campus at St. Patricks at a cost of 1.28 million euro.
Over 9 million euro is to be spent on Sligo Hospital to fund additional bed capacity with the provision of two 21 bed wards, single en suite rooms with ancillary accommodation.
The Sacred Heart Hospital in Roscommon is set to get a 50 bed replacement unit costing almost 1 million euros and Roscommon University Hospital is to see the Provision of a Rehab Unit 1 to 10 bed unit supported by the National Rehab Hospital at the cost of 400,000 euro.
Deputy Feighan says this is very welcome news for the region.
