Additional facilities are to be provided at one of Leitrim's most popular outdoor amenities and waterways as part of a €19m Fáilte Ireland investment.
All-weather changing and showering facilities are to be developed at Acres Lake in Drumshambo, Co. Leitrim as well at over 20 other locations across the country.
The facilities will also include lockers for personal belongings as well as induction areas for water sports, while they will all be wheelchair accessible.
Launched by Minister Catherine Martin this morning, it's aimed at extending the Summer season beyond the traditional months. Fiona Monaghan from Failte Ireland says there will be a small fee for the use of hot showers.
The announcement has been welcomed by Minister Frank Feighan and Green Party National Co-Ordinator Blaithin Gallagher.
