A major water infrastructure upgrade project is set to begin in Longford later this week.
Uisce Éireann plans to replace 3 kilometres of aged water mains from Edgeworthstown to Bracklon.
According to the utility, the works will take over two months and will see traffic restrictions on the Bracklon road in the form of Stop/Go Systems.
Customers are also being urged to expect short term water disruptions, with Uisce Éireann guaranteeing a minimum notice period of 48 hours.
The works have been described by the body as a critical step in conserving water and reducing leakage levels.
This project is being carried out by Farrans Construction in conjunction with Longford County Council and is due to be completed by the end of September.
