A Leitrim community group is celebrating today having secured almost €200,000 to promote peace and reconciliation between communities in the north and south of Ireland.
The International Fund for Ireland has allocated €193,797 to the Ballinamore Area Community Council to support projects and develop links with cross- border communities
This is the second time that the Leitrim group has been successful with securing funding from IFI and the money will build on work carried out as part of previous social enterprise programmes coordinated from The Den in the town.
Money will also be set aside for a community employability development programme which will offer a range of training courses to locals as well as a scheme exploring the past and looking to the future.
