Over 11,000 people across the Shannonside Region have applied online for passports in the last 6 months.
Figures released in the Dail this week have shown major increases in passport applications over the last year, with 2022 applications already surpassing 2021 levels.
Members of the public are currently experiencing lengthy delays in paperwork being processed and applications approved.
Roscommon has the highest local levels of applications, with 5,190 made so far this year, over double the amount made in 2020.
Longford has seen major increases in applications with 3,201 made in 2022, up from 2,450 last year.
While Leitrim has the lowest number nationwide, with 2,759 applications made this year, up more than 2,000 from 2020 levels.
