The Department of Education has given the go ahead to several significant school upgrade projects in the Shannonside Region.
Scoil Chlann Naofa National School in Ballinamore has received the green light for 5 new main stream classes of 80 squared metres.
Announcing the allocation, local Minister Frank Feighan says the works will also include 2 SET Rooms, 2 Class Base SEN Units and a User Assisted toilet.
As part of the works, funding has also been provided for the removal of the existing prefabs.
Elsewhere in the region, St Colmcille's National School in Aughnacliffe has been awarded a grant for two special education classrooms and ancillary services.
According to local TD Joe Flaherty, the department has also given the go ahead for a 100 square metre modular building as an interim measure for the student population.
Elsewhere in Longford, Education Minister Norma Foley has approved a 2 classroom modular building for St Matthew's in Ballymahon.
