The man accused of the murder of Det Garda Colm Horkan in Castlerea last June is once again due before Harristown District Court this morning.
43 year old Stephen Silver of Aughaward, Foxford in Mayo is charged with the murder of Det Garda Horkan in Castlerea on the 17th of June this year.
Stephen Silver has been due to appear to the court on four occasions since his arrest in June but a remand hearing on the 24th of last month was told he was being treated in the acute admission ward at the Central Mental Hospital.
His solicitor told the court that doctors at the hospital say his client is receiving anti-psychotic medication and his condition is being kept under review.
They also said they do expect his mental state to gradually improve over the next couple of months.
Gearoid Geraghty said he didn't expect his client would be fit though to appear via video link at today's court sitting.
Judge Alan Mitchell asked him if he had any objection to his client appearing via video link and Mr Geraghty said he did not.
He then remanded the accused in custody to appear via video link before Harristown District Court this morning.
