The man accused of the murder of Detective Garda Colm Horkan is due back in court this morning where he will face an additional charge in connection with the death of the Garda.
Stephen Silver, with an address in Foxford, Mayo, is due to appear at Castlerea District Court after directions from the DPP last week indicated he faces another charge arising from an incident in Castlerea last June.
The mechanic has been receiving treatment at the Central Mental hospital in the last number of months and has been unable to appear at Harristown District Court in relation to the murder charge on medical grounds.
Arrangements have been made to allow Mr Silver appear in court in person to answer the new charge being put to him today.
