Two people have been arrested following the seizure of drugs worth over €42,000 in County Longford.
The drugs were discovered following an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the area.
Gardaí stopped and searched a man on the N63 at Kilashee in County Longford yesterday and discovered cannabis worth an estimated €2000.
The man, aged in his twenties, was arrested at detained at a Garda station in the North Western Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
He was subsequently charged and bailed to appear before Longford District Court next month.
In a follow-up search of a house in the area, Gardaí seized cannabis and cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €40,000.
A woman in her twenties was arrested and detained at a station in North Western region under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.
She was released without charge pending the the preparation of a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis and investigations are ongoing.
