A 27-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged stabbing at a fast food restaurant in Longford earlier this week.
Patrick Stokes, of Corboy, Edgeworthstown appeared at Mullingar District Court this afternoon.
Garda Donal McDermott gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution of the accused following an alleged violent incident at Main St, Longford on Tuesday afternoon.
The 27-year-old appeared in court this afternoon accompanied by his father and his wife.
The father-of-three is accused of alighting from a car and entering a premises with an blade implement in his jacket and assaulting a man by inflicting slashes to the upper body.
He was also charged with a Section 6 Public Order offence.
Judge Bernadette Owens heard that the Gardai have taken witness statements and have CCTV of the incident.
The court also heard the alleged assault is linked to a feud in Longford which was denied by the defence solicitor.
Gardai objected to bail for a number of reasons, including the seriousness of the offences.
However Judge Owens granted bail, subject to nine strict conditions, including lodging a €1000 surety; to obey a curfew; to sign on at Granard Garda Station three times a week; stay off social media and to stay out of Longford save for legal consults and court appearances.
He is due back in court on April 26th at Longford District Court.
