A man in his 50s has been arrested in connection to the murder of a woman in her 70s in Kerry.
A post-mortem was carried out on the body of Miriam Burns but the results are not being released for operational reasons.
75 year old Miriam Burns was found dead at her home in Ardshanavooley, Killarney at approximately 1:15pm yesterday.
A post-mortem examination was conducted this afternoon at University Hospital Kerry by State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster, although the details are not being released.
Gardai have set up an incident room in Killarney Garda Station and the scene at her residence remains preserved.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area between 5pm on Friday and 1pm on Monday to come forward if they observed any activity which drew their attention.
The man in his 50s who was arrested is being held at Killarney Garda Station.
