Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with a serious assault in Athlone before Christmas.
A man in his 20s was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore with non-life threatening injuries following the assault in the early hours of the 13th of December.
Local Gardaí investigating the alleged assault in the Ashdale area of Athlone town arrested a man in his 20s this week.

He has since appeared at a sitting of Athlone District Court, while the Garda investigation continues.
