A man in 20s has been charged after shoplifting from a Longford town store on Monday afternoon.
The man is believed to have been part of a larger group of individuals who entered the shop on Main Street on Monday afternoon.
Gardai are investigating the circumstances of the incident but believe the thefts of goods, worth between 30 and 40 euro, were taken in a 'distraction scam.'
The man was arrested as he tried to flee the shop and investigations are underway to identify and locate at least two other individuals who are believed to be associates of the man.
He was arrested and charged last night by Gardai and is due in court in the coming weeks.
