A man in his 60s is due in court this morning in Longford following a garda investigation into alleged social welfare fraud. Inquiries have been underway since a major raid by officers from the Criminal Assets Bureau on multiple locations in Longford town last July.
On that occasion, a total of 16 searches were carried out and thousands of euro in cash and sterling were seized as well as caravans and 11 vehicles. Gardai have confirmed that a man in his 60s has been charged with alleged social welfare fraud offences and is due to appear at Longford District Court this morning.
