Man due in court following suspicious approach to child in Monaghan

A man is appearing in court today after a suspicious approach to a child in Carrickmacross on Monday.

Gardaí say a child was grabbed by a man who was unknown to them in a supermarket in the town at around 7.15pm.

The child's mother followed the man and retrieved her child and contacted Gardaí.

Gardaí arrested a man in his early 30s at the scene.

He was subsequently charged and will appear in court this morning.
