Longford Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man was hospitalised in an assault in the town this morning.
The incident took place at Camlin Court at approximately 5.30 am between two men allegedly known to each other.
A man in his 60s was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar with non-life-threatening head injuries.

According to Gardaí, they are following a definitive line of inquiry and have identified a suspect in the assault.
A technical examination of the scene was completed late this morning with Gardaí currently not seeking any witnesses to the incident.
