A Louth man has pleaded guilty to assaulting a well-known Leitrim LGBTQ rights campaigner at a protest in Dublin last year.
Izzy O'Rourke, also known as Izzy Kamikaze, suffered a serious head wound following the incident at Kildare Street, Dublin, on September 12th last.
She was struck by a wooden plank while observing a protest by anti-Covid lockdown and facemask protestors near Leinster House.
Michael Quinn, of Malone Flats, Market Street, Ardee, pleaded guilty this week to two charges at the Criminal Courts of Justice. including assault, arising from the incident
He is due to be sentenced in October.
Sligo-Leitrim TD Martin Kenny has welcomed the guilty plea and says that it "disproves the slur" shared on social media in the aftermath of the incident that the attack and Ms O'Rourke's injuries had been faked.
