A man in his 40s will go on trial later this week charged with the murder of a Detective Garda in Castlerea over two years ago.
Stephen Silver, from Foxford in County Mayo, is charged with the unlawful killing of Colm Horkan in Castlerea in June 2020.
The 46-year-old appeared at the Central Criminal Court this afternoon where he pleaded not guilty to murder, but guilty to manslaughter by virtue of diminished responsibility. The case will be heard in front of a jury and it's expected it will begin later this week and is expected to last over a month.
