A man in his 40s remains in garda custody this morning in connection with the shooting dead of a Garda Detective in Castlerea.
Over two hundred people turned out last night in the west Roscommon town to remember Colm Horkan who died in the early hours of Thursday morning.
49-year-old Detective Colm Horkan was remembered as a good friend and colleague.
Local Garda Superintendent Goretti Sheridan expressed thanks to the local community for the support they had shown gardaí since Detective Horkan's death.
Parish priest Fr John McManus, who gave Detective Horkan the last rites, minutes after being shot, asked people to join him in a special prayer.
A book of condolence has opened at Castlerea garda station and local Councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice had a special request for people who attended to remember Detective Horkan.
