A man remains in a serious condition in hospital this morning following a high speed chase in Co Longford.
Gardai in Longford received reports of a man driving erratically on the Ballinalee Road at around 4pm yesterday.
As officers approached the silver coloured saloon, he fled the scene, hitting a Garda member who was on foot.
Over the course of a pursuit, the vehicle proceeded to the Ard Aoibhinn area where it collided with a Garda patrol vehicle, and then proceeded to Ardnacassa where it then collided with a wall close to Longford Women's Link.
A Garda received an injury to his arm, understood to be a fracture, he was taken to and is now discharged from Tullamore Hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, who is understood to be in his 30s and from county Cavan remains in Tullamore hospital with serious injuries.
Gardai are investigating the incident which has also been referred to the Garda watchdog, GSOC.
